New for Podcasts in iOS 11: Apple is bringing a handful of new podcasts features to iOS 11, both for users and creators. The new features were highlighted during a developer session on Friday and In iOS 10, I'd often listen to two or three podcasts at bedtime, from creator. I'd pick one, select a time from the Sleep Timer, and start. That podcast and others would play as my set time constraint would allow. Now it appears I can only play one podcasts at a time and have to manually select subsequent podcasts individually. The new UI is unnecessarily busy and confusing. Other tidbits worth mentioning include larger artwork and other visual tweaks to match the look and feel of other apps inside of iOS 11, as shown on the screenshot top of post. The official Podcasts widget has remained unchanged. For those wondering, Apple still does not provide Podcasts for Apple Watch. I'm in the same boat. The native Podcasts app wasn't anything spectacular on iOS 10 but it worked well for everything I needed out of it. The new iOS 11 version has completely ruined it for me. The menus are a mess, and the UX is not intuitive or user friendly at all. They even removed the "Mark as Played" option which doesn't make any sense. Tap or click Subscribe. Now, new episodes automatically download for free and you'll get a notification as they become available. If you stop listening to a show for a while, Apple Podcasts might pause your subscription.
